3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
· Our thriller could be seen as independent. We challenged some of the conventions but we still maintained many of the elements in a psychological thriller. For example the use of non- diegetic music which was particularly eerie in comparison to the typical music you would here at the beginning of psychological thrillers. However because the narrative to our thriller is mainstream, we would distribute our thriller by a mainstream distributor like 20th Century Fox which in general distribute films of all genres. 20th Century Fox have also distributed films that are not conventional like, the psychological thriller “Fight Club."
In order to gain inspiration for the opening sequence to our thriller we did someproduct research decided to analyse the opening to “ Fight Club” so that I could identify what types of techniques we could use to make our film mainstream. The use of camera shots identifies the film as mainstream. The point of view shots of the problematic character, allowed the audience to get inside the characters mind and to try and figure out why they are so disturbed.
